Air Quality Workshop
Sunday, March 6th
Description
The workshop will focus on the three components of conducting GHG impact assessments under CEQA (i.e., thresholds, quantification, and mitigation) providing expert presentations (including air district staff) on current day approaches and tools (e.g. BAAQMD’s GHG Model [BGM], San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District’s Best Performance Standards and Tools for development projects, and South Coast Air Quality Management District’s [SCAQMD] soon to be released California Emissions Estimator Model [CalEEMod]). In addition to gaining a comprehensive understanding of the state-of-the-art, this workshop will also provide an opportunity for hands-on experience specifically with SCAQMD’s CalEEMod. SCAQMD’s CalEEMod is a new statewide land use emissions computer model that was developed in cooperation with other air districts throughout the state. CalEEMod is designed as a uniform platform for government agencies, land use planners and environmental professionals to quantify potential criteria air pollutant and GHG emissions associated with construction and operation from a variety of land uses (e.g., residential and commercial facilities).
